Gruesome Cost of War

Headline news today: 63 U.S. troops killed in Afghanistan in July, making it the deadliest month since the war began. June saw 60 U.S. deaths. Compare that to over 105,000 Iraqi civilians killed since that war began.

Bothersome to me, reading comments on articles when the word homeless is mentioned. Typical: lazy, bums, get a job, and recently, let him re-enlist. I would challenge anyone to see scenes like those in these gruesome photos ~ the human cost of war. Then to come home from war and be perfectly sane and normal ~ no booze needed to obliberate the barrage of thoughts; no drugs to escape the visual memories that will not go away.

Yes, veterans of wars do drink. Too much. They use drugs. Would you fare any better? Could you? Veterans who have minds that torment them, do indeed end up living on the streets; homeless. Who can blame them? Not I.
