Does Gaetz think he will win votes from 5'2, 350 pound women? Perhaps like his supporter ~ the former guy ~ he thinks disparaging comments are funny? 

I do not know how a female looks, so that he considers them looking like a thumb. Maybe his thumbs are short and fat, seeing as he followed that comment mentioning height and weight, calling them " odious inside and out." 

He claims that short, obese women are the only ones marching, rallying for female's liberty. The photos I have seen of protestors show men & women of all sizes. The senators that were arrested appear taller and slender to me.

It angers me that females would vote for men like Gaetz. I know many wonderful males, but know even more that are as misogynist and demeaning as him, with regards to females' body shapes and conceived beauty.

Not allowing a doctor assisted early termination of pregnancy for a child is to impose cruel & unusual punishment upon the girl. As one reader commented:

Politicians, Supreme Court justices are not gynecologists. They do not have enough information about pregnancies to forbid choice. Other readers pointed out that it would be these same politicians/government that will get to decide if a female's life is endangered during pregnancy.
President Obama presented the example of a pregnant female being rushed to hospital after car crash. The doctor should be free to administer life-saving treatment, without worrying that s/he might have to go to court to prove s/he had to perform a surgery or administer medication that caused the fetus to abort.

Consulting with 3 other physicians to determine if the woman's life is truly in danger, might consign her to death. Government needs to stop meddling in females' health concerns. And ditto those who vote for politicians like heartless Tudor Dixon.

Options for treating pregnant women for cancer.

14th Amendment forbids the states from depriving any person of “life, liberty, or property, without due process of law” and from denying anyone equal protection under the law.

States like Texas deprive females of liberty when it comes to pregnancy, and also want to penalize them, often forcing them to go through court. 

A woman with a miscarriage went to jail due to medical personnel reporting her for a self-induced pregnancy termination. It is a sad precedent that many females will now need to prove a miscarriage was natural. 

A doctor in Ohio is being investigated after ending the ten-year-old rape victim's pregnancy at the request of her parents. 

Luckily an embryo will abort (according to article) by two weeks due to certain chemo drugs or tests. Unlucky the woman who learns that her fetus became deformed due to cancer treatment if she learns that after 6 weeks of pregnancy. 

The 8th Amendment prohibits cruel & unusual punishment. Forcing a pregnant woman with cancer to continue pregnancy of a deformed fetus is cruel. It would be unusual for men to suffer the same fate. 

How about arresting, fining, jailing the boy/man who created an unwanted pregnancy. 

The Supreme Court gave states the green light to (mis)treat females in any manner they deem fair, for having the audacity to get cancer while pregnant. Or consenting to rape & incestuoud relationships. 

Move to another state

 Move to another state is often a reply to article comments. Some feel they have to patiently explain that the Supreme Court overthrowing Roe v Wade did not outlaw abortion, it just gave states the right to make their own laws. 

As I see it, citizens ~ including women ~ were granted liberty and to be free from cruel and unusual punishment. Up to the Federal government to protect females, not to give states carte blanche to deny them liberty. 

Speaking of horses, no sense flogging a dead horse. 

Some one suggested in those same article comments to use the withdrawal method for preventing unwanted pregnancies.  

"I won't come inside you," he told the virgin who refused sex due to fear of getting pregnant. 

"Oops, I hope you don't get pregnant, I did not pull out soon enough..." he said.

"I know someone who can get a pill to end the pregnancy," he said.

Roe v Wade had not yet been decided. She never wanted to bring kids into this horrible world. Yet, once pregnant, she wanted the baby. Maternal instinct? 

There is more to that story, for now, moral is: her body, her choice.

*50+ years ago it was not likely a teenager would be given birth control pills.
*I do not know of any female who had an abortion as a teen that thinks about terminating an unwanted pregnancy.  
*Yes, the boy who sweet talked or pressured his girlfriend into having sex should have used condoms. 50 some years ago a young virgin teen girl probably did not know anything about birth control.
*I guess one could say that chemo kills cancer cells. I do not know why they consider a zygote as life to be killed or murdered. 
*At 6 weeks an embryo's heart is not fully formed. The cluster of cells that will become the heart, emits electrical signals that could be mistaken for a heartbeat.

The ten year old was the only one of those listed pregnancy was result of abuse.

Recently some anti wrote in comments on a Roe v Wade article, that only 1% of rapes result in pregnancy.  Quick Google search shows: "The national rape-related pregnancy rate is 5.0% per rape among victims of reproductive age (aged 12 to 45); among adult women an estimated 32,101 pregnancies result from rape each year."

Thus the anti's data was incorrect. So what if the child's rape resulted in pregnancy, he thinks, none of those raped female's pregnancies should qualify them for doctor assisted termination of pregnancy. Wonder what the person would say if those 32,101 rapists were castrated and/or made to provide financial aid starting at the moment of conception,

The raped pregnant females might not mind carrying their rapists' fetus to term, going through labor, often excruciating painful delivery to give birth to their baby. They might not mind raising the baby to adulthood.Others would find it horrifying ~ a constant reminder of the violence visited upon them. 

Even if it were only 1%, the choice is always hers and hers alone, not some stranger living 3,000 miles away.

I fact checked these quotes. I need to read the works of Thomas Paine. How do I really know that he wrote the above quote, for a fact. Things we were taught as children or common knowledge, we learned as adults that they were false.

Like George Washington saying he could not tell a lie, "I chopped down the cherry tree." Or that Jimi Hendrix said: "When the power of love overcomes the love of power the world will know peace."

He may have said that, but it was not an original thought. People point out that William Gladstone said "We look forward to the time when the Power of Love will replace the Love of Power. Then will the world know the blessings of peace."

It is also reported that Sri Chinmoy Ghose words were "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then there will be true peace."

And also, "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace," attributed to Mahatma Gandhi . 

The internet also will bring up information about Thomas Paine, George Washington, Jimi Hendrix or Thomas Jefferson's dates of birth and deaths. I can not vouch for accuracy of that information anymore than I can truly say the meme's quotes are facts.  But I did try to verify.

How 'bout the million+ people who have died due to COVID? Dead people are highly unlikely to be seeking jobs.  Why do people elect such ~ what can I say except ~ dumb people to become our nation's lawmakers and leaders?! 

A granddaughter took a gap year away from college. She decided to also take off from working because she has been working since she was 14. I think she was 15 when she started a summer job at a seasonal Italian Ice shop. She did put in a lot of effort in high school band and jazz band. Point is, there may be many other students like her, that, after COVID just wanted some time off from jobs. 

Her father used to hold several part time jobs ~ likes to keep busy. Carpal tunnel surgeries, knee injuries and more surgeries have kept him from his regular job. If not for that, he would like to fill one of those empty part time positions. 

Many reasons people are not filling those jobs ~ especially the ones that do not pay enough or give enough hours to make taking them worthwhile.

 GOP candidate for Illinois Governor Darren Bailey releases a video regarding the shooting in Highland Park:

“Now let’s move on and celebrate the independence of this nation. We know the mission. We have got to get corruption and evil out of our government.”

Did the wannabe governor just imply that a corrupt, evil government official just killed 6 people? Or that the government officials that want stricter gun regulations are corrupt and evil?

I think he is fairly evil thinking people whose loved ones died in the shooting and those who witnessed yet another mass shooting would be in the mood to move on and celebrate.  Another Roe v Wade overturn casualty happened to a Facebook game friend. She shared this article to explain why her arthritis medicine was suddenly changed.  The newly prescribed medication may cause her unwanted side effects.

The article mentions ectopic pregnancies. I mentioned them in many comments on a Facebook article earlier this afternoon. Why bother? A waste of time trying to educate people as to possible reasons a woman chooses a doctor assisted early pregnancy termination.

the conundrum here is that if you do allow abortion only in the case of rape then you are a hypocrite. if you believe it's murder then rape doesn't change your belief. that's why abortion should be each woman's right to choose.

In the beginning they called themselves "anti-abortionist" ~ I believe they changed it to "pro life" to mimic  Pro-Choice or sound more positive. Walk a mile in an eleven-year-old pregnant by rape child's shoes. How could anyone think they have the right to make her choice to continue the pregnancy for her? 

No one has the right to make choices for a pregnant female other than her own self. Planned Parenthood councils the pregnant girl to consider her religion, does she have strong personal or religious beliefs regarding abortion.They encourage the girls to think about the future, to take the decision seriously.

If one truly believes one can murder a fertilized egg, then they should not allow exceptions for saving the pregnant woman's life such as in an  ectopic pregnancy. Left untreated that pregnancy could erupt the fallopian tube, surely killing the fetus and possibly the woman as well.

The Federal Government should protect a woman's right to make her own choices; liberty, freedom of choice is hogwash if it only extends to males. People do not know the reason a stranger living 3,000 miles away from them is describing a doctor assisted early termination of pregnancy, so need to Mind. Their. Own. Business.

There are more replies to that first comment. Yes, it has already happened in the United States. Texas law, for instance allows anyone to accuse someone of having an abortion. A spiteful mother-in-law, perhaps, might report her son's wife for aborting, when the poor woman had a natural miscarriage.  

The poster using the name Gold has a lot more to say ~ all devoid of any factual, intelligent information regarding the subject. Unlike James #2 who obviously is informed, knows that Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas already stated his intent to go after contraception next. Behind the news thinks an 11-year-old girl should be punished by Christians for being raped, because God did not? Where was that God stopping the man from raping the child? People can turn my stomach.

Baby will cry until it dies

A judge told an 11-year-old girl that if she had an abortion the baby would cry until it dies. A 22-week old aborted fetus probably can not cry. Its lungs and brain are not fully developed; its skin is paper thin; It has an estimated 9% chance of survival with major, expensive, Intensive Care.

I did not fact check the story of the 11-year-old Brazilian child being raped. She did not know that the rape resulted in pregnancy. When her parents realized the child was pregnant due to the rape, they took her to get an abortion. It was denied due hospital refusing to perform abortions after 20 weeks. The child was 22  weeks, 2 days along. 

A court case ensued. 

I want to respond to some of the comments on the article without logging into Yahoo in order to do. Thus my next posts will address my thoughts on some of those comments.

The Brook

 

The book down the street stank. Growing up I never heard the word "polluted," the pollution was the cause of the foul odor. It was not until many years later (EPA regulations later?) that I learned that a nearby chemical company used to dump their waste into the brook. 

My brothers brought home round toothpick size viles they found dumped in the woods. We called the trees growing alongside the brook, the woods. There was a path leading to the elevated railroad tracks at the end. I watched at least one brother and his friend use a rope to fly  across the shallow brook to the other side.

I was only allowed to go into the woods with older siblings. One time we wandered away from the path, to a somewhat cleared section. I marveled at the salt licks. Was not until many moons later that I learned a salt lick's purpose. There were some metal clothes hangers amid other debris; remnants of a small camp size fire. My sister, I think, said it was the bums' camp. The reason mom did not allow me to go into the woods was, the bums. 

Later, I thought they were homeless man. Today I imagine, they may have been tramps, vagrants or hobos who hopped trains traveling around looking for work or avoiding it. I never saw any men hanging out in or near the woods.

When we got older, my younger sister and I went to the end of the path, climbed the embankment, to cross to the other side. There were two sets of tracks. I told her it was safe to walk on the tracks (too narrow to walk alongside) because the trains did not use that track. Oops, I was wrong, but we made the walk to the otherside of the brook safely. There was no way I would use the rope to get to the otherside of the brook and I was curious to explore that side.

Today's world, one can not walk along the brook. For some years it was still accessible by shimming around a fence. Long ago, the woods gave way to a bowling alley with wide parking lot that ran along what was left of the narrow path. The other side was not accessible at all. Old factories torn down, it became a limited access park of some sort. The bowling alley became an egg factory and later a Charter school 

The wall in the Google map image is new. The last time I was there it was still the old crumbling stone wall that I used to stand behind, often throwing stones into the brook with delighted youngsters. The brook no longer smells putrid; it still floods the street corner after heavy rains. Often causing flooding in my mother's basement. 

The brook runs for miles, often underground. A brother took me ice skating in a different section of that brook. We had to skate around vehicle tires and other junk frozen in the ice. That section of the woods must have been covered over as it is no longer visible from along the cemetery.

I truly got sidetracked on this post about the polluted brook. The correct word for those tiny pointed vials of chemicals might be ampoules. Maybe more the width of a straw, but as long as a toothpick or slightly larger. I vaguely remember a brother breaking one of those in half and the smell was a pleasantly odd odor. Perhaps sweet and foul? I may have even broken one myself, imitating the brother. I suppose the liquid from inside the tubes just landed on the ground. 

Hopefully if the chemicals got on our hands, we were quick to wash them, but doubtful. Kids, ya know!
